Isabella Persad

Bella is a multidisciplinary artist, finishing her senior year at FIU with a Bachelor of Arts in Art + Art History, as well as starting a Master of Science in Art Education. She is the architect of The Salvage Atelier and its subsidiaries, all founded from an impatience to be taken seriously, in a society that contradicts its evolution in the name of capitalist manipulation and greed.

She grew up in a humble setting in Trinidad & Tobago, before transitioning to Miami to further her tertiary education. Her skills span the visual dimensions of art, with her weapons being charcoal, various paints, every sense of the pencil, and whatever expressive medium she can attempt to understand. The Salvage Atelier comes from an innate urge to create, but lacking either the bulkier equipment or skills to operate them, to yield a dream-satisfying product. Rather, one that meets her hefty compositional standards. Having grown to be a person patient enough to sift through an entire store and more to find the exact style, cut, and fit of a piece, when these expeditions yield naught, the restlessness does not cease. In her own words, the Atelier is her own all-tools-you'll-ever-need workshop to sustain every art project her little mind has ever thought of, even if she just starts a bunch of projects she never finishes. Consider a gym, but for art practices. That is the vision of the Salvage Atelier. One day, if ever given the opportunity, the Atelier will ideally be a huge, skill-dynamic, workshop, with stations for different conjugations of craft, e.g. printmaking, beading, knitting, jewelry-making, live-model painting, embroidery, etc.

For now, our house author, and literally everything else, has envisioned The Salvage Atelier: Uncensored, as an outlet for the frustrations associated with not only this venture, but general, day-to-day grievances that she sees relevant to the cause. She does ask that her audience bears in mind, writing is not her major, simply a hobby being used as a vessel of good.
